Jane Powers, Mediator
Jane K. Powers Jane Powers believes that mediation places decision making in the hands and hearts of those most affected by it.
Jane Powers is a graduate of the University of Maryland and has been certified by The Harvard Law School Mediation Training Program. She has additional specialized training in mediating cases involving divorce, custody, visitation, property distribution, and estate probate matters. Ms. Powers recently received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. Because of this unique clinical experience, she brings an added sensitivity to the emotional as well as the legal aspects of Family Law.
Ms. Powers has over ten years’ experience in the field and believes that allowing people to participate in the informal and confidential process of mediation gives each party a peaceful and mutually agreeable way of settling disputes through communication, negotiation and conciliation. Ms. Powers believes that Mediation allows the participants to focus on their individual needs and goals with an emphasis on family preservation.
Mediation allows the participants to reach an agreement by coming together with a mediator without involving the often costly, adversarial and time-consuming system, which removes the decision making from the individuals who will be most affected by it.
